With all materials provided and admission included\, all you need to bring is yourself! \n\n\n\nWe’re bringing this series back by popular demand and newly reimagined in partnership with the Oregon Botanical Artists (OBA). This immersive afternoon experience invites you to slow down\, look closely\, and connect with plants through tea\, conversation\, and hands-on art-making. Our August 14 Lotus session with Zebith Thalden will use colored pencils as the medium. \n\n\n\nEach session weaves together horticulture\, tea culture\, and botanical art in a relaxed\, welcoming setting: \n\n\n\n\nLearn the plant up close: A Lan Su gardener leads a close-up botanical show-and-tell\, sharing seasonal plant facts\, cultural stories\, and growing insights.\n\n\n\nTaste the season: Enjoy a sampling of seasonal teas from Yun Shui Teahouse.\n\n\n\nCreate botanical art: An OBA artist guides a full botanical art class inspired by the featured plant.\n\n\n\n\nWhether you’re returning to Steep & Paint or joining for the first time\, this refreshed program offers an even richer way to experience Lan Su. DESCRIPTION:Film Summary\n\n\n\nKungfu Demo\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\nDirections\n\n\n\n\nCrouching Tiger\, Hidden Dragon “臥虎藏龍” (2000) returns to the big screen in support of Lan Su Chinese Garden this Asian American\, Native Hawaiian\, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month! All proceeds from this benefit screening go toward our work maintaining one of the most authentic classical Chinese gardens outside of China. \n\n\n\nPrior to the film\, guests will be treated to an exciting demonstration by Summit Wushu Academy\, so be sure to grab your seat early! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Film\n\n\n\nDirected by Ang Lee\, Crouching Tiger\, Hidden Dragon “臥虎藏龍” follows warrior Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun-Fat) in 19th-century Qing Dynasty China who gives his sword\, Green Destiny\, to his lover Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh) to deliver for safe keeping—until it is stolen\, and the chase is on to find it. Co-starring Zhang Ziyi as Jen Yu and an original score featuring cello solos from Yo-Yo Ma\, Crouching TIger\, Hidden Dragon is a martial arts masterpiece and considered one of the greatest films of the 21st Century. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpecial Performance: Summit Wushu Academy\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSummit Wushu Academy was opened in 2012 by brothers Phillip and Peter Dang. With 25 years of experience of training and previously representing the United States National Wushu Team on the World stage\, some of their students have also achieved awards in both national and international competitions. \n\n\n\nSifu Phillip is now working in stunts in the film industry and can be seen in recent films such as The Paper Tigers and Mulan. The school is currently led by Sifu Peter\, who teaches out of his passion to spread the art and joy of Wushu. \n\n\n\nDid you know? “Wushu\,” also known as Kungfu\, is the Chinese term for “martial arts.” Its movements combine speed\, power\, and flexibility with grace and precision.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGet Tickets\n\n\n\nTickets for this event are sold through Hollywood Theatre\, with all proceeds benefitting Lan Su Chinese Garden. \n\n\n\n\nGeneral: $12.00\n\n\n\nStudents & Seniors: $10.00\n\n\n\nHollywood Theatre Members: $9.00\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation: Hollywood Theatre\n\n\n\nPlease note this is an off-site event at Hollywood Theatre in NE Portland.
