DESCRIPTION:Discover the unique sound of the yangqin\, a traditional Chinese hammered string instrument known for its bright and delicate tone. Played with slender bamboo beaters\, the yangqin has long been an important part of Chinese folk orchestras\, opera accompaniment\, and traditional cultural performances. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a live demonstration to experience the instrument up close and learn more about its history\, musical role\, and distinctive playing technique within Chinese music traditions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet the Community Partner:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Oregon Chinese Coalition is a local Chinese organization dedicated to building a connected and united Chinese community that embraces diverse socioeconomic backgrounds\, political beliefs\, and religious and cultural traditions.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nParking & Directions\n\n\n\nFree Lan Su Parking\n\n\n\nThere is free first come\, first served parking in our sister lot next to the garden at 424 NW Third Avenue. Additional metered parking and garages are available on surrounding streets.
