Learn about five reasons why Lan Su Chinese Garden is a great escape from the heat!
Shade
Lan Su is about 70% covered with walkways and pavilions thereby providing an abundance of shade. In addition, we have a number of naturally shady plants like our banana leaves and more expanding our shade coverage.
Breezes
By being near the Willamette River, there is often a nice breeze that comes through the garden, that with the inclusion of the shade, makes it feel much cooler than surrounding areas.
Lake Zither and the waterfall
With Lan Su’s Lake Zither naturally providing a cooler layer of air over the center of the garden, our waterfall—and the mist it produces—helps lower ambient temperatures by as much as 10-15 degrees.
An air-conditioned Teahouse
For those really looking to cool off, Lan Su’s teahouse operated by The Tao of Tea, is fully air-conditioned. Enjoy views of the garden while enjoying specialty cold and hot teas as well as refreshing snacks perfect for a hot day.
An air-conditioned Garden Shop
As you begin or end your time in Lan Su, stop by the Garden Shop to pick up a memento of your visit or gift for that special someone.
Additionally, for adventurous visitors, this weekend, Lan Su is wrapping up our Cuisines of China food demonstrations with:

- Sunday, June 28, 2:30 p.m. – “Dim Sum: Touch of the Heart” with HK Cafe
