Time to raise the red lanterns! From February 1st – 15th, Lan Su Chinese Garden will be welcoming the Year of the Tiger with cultural programming, family-friendly activities, and eight nights of traditional Lantern Viewing Evenings.
The festival starts beyond the garden walls this year! A traditional lion dance performance will be held at the garden entrance on February 1st to kick off the celebration and it is free for everyone. This is followed by a total of 15-days of celebration with cultural programming featuring over 20 local cultural organizations and individuals. This is considered the biggest lunar new year in Pacific Northwest. Festival highlights include Chinese dance, martial arts, Chinese calligraphy, and a virtual talk series on New Year celebrations. Traditionally, Chinese New Year signifies new beginnings and new energy. Experience the most joyous festival of the year and see the new Lan Su that serves the community, grows with the community, and thrives in the community.
For families with little ones, the garden also offers family-friendly activities such as craft activities, the "Hidden Tiger" scavenger hunts, and everyone’s favorite nighttime event, the Lantern Viewing Evenings, all in the open-air garden. There’s something for everyone!
Masks are required for all visitors. Chinese New Year at Lan Su Chinese Garden admissions are available for purchase now.
