Lan Su offers a variety of activities, lectures and classes at the garden, as well as on the virtual platforms. These programs help enhance visitors’ understanding of Chinese culture and provide opportunities to learn and play. All activities, unless otherwise noted, are free with membership or admission.

This lecture will introduce Japanese literary aesthetics, the three main forms of traditional Japanese poetry (tanka, renga and haiku), and explore many of the ways in which classical Chinese poetry has influenced the development of poetry in Japan.

Learn about the traditional craft of Chinese knot tying with volunteers from the Confucius Institute at Portland State University.

Come join staff from Multnomah County Library and enjoy folktales from China, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Japan and more.
