Join musician Stephanie Chen as she demonstrates how to play the guzheng, a traditional Chinese stringed instrument with over 2000 years of history.
Stephanie Chen is a music major and scholarship student at Southern Oregon University. She studies piano with Dr. Alexander Tutunov, who is an internationally known piano professor. Stephanie began her study of guzheng (Chinese zither) and piano with Dr. Jiyu Yang of the Wisdom Arts Academy at a very young age, and later studied with Barbara Parker, a retired concert pianist in Portland.
Stephanie has received several awards from competitions with the Oregon Music Teacher Association. She won 2nd place in the Monday Musical Club of Portland which supports outstanding young musicians for the encouragement of their study of music. Stephanie was also the winner of the Brookings Young Artists Competition at Southern Oregon University for two years in a row.
