This April at Lan Su, celebrate the classical Chinese arts of calligraphy, painting, poetry & music. Learn about traditional Chinese scholar's arts with weekly demonstrations, poetry readings and live music throughout the month.
In partnership with Asia America, Lan Su presents an exhibition of Gongshi for the entire month of April in celebration of Scholars Arts month! This will be a unique opportunity to purchase these prized and rare stones for your own inspirational collection.
Scholar’s Rocks also known as Gongshi have been collected for aesthetic and religious purposes evolving from the use of larger stones in gardens for over 1,000 years. These stones were also used by Scholars (also known as literati) for meditation and inspiration. Scholar’s rocks can be a variety of stone, set on carved rosewood pedestals. With a range in form and color, coarse or smooth and have dramatic form meant to evoke feeling from the viewer.
Create your own couplet and submit by email to email@example.com. Couplets that are submitted may be posted by Lan Su on social media or on the poetry arch in the garden during the month of April. Learn more »
