International School of Portland has provided full language and cultural immersion since 1990, offering three complete immersion programs—Chinese, Japanese, and Spanish—under one roof, including the longest-running Chinese immersion program in the Pacific Northwest and the only full Japanese immersion program in the U.S. The school was also the first in the region to adopt the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. Its globally diverse faculty and staff from over 17 countries engage nearly 400 students in academics, PE, and the arts within a warm, multilingual environment that nurtures curiosity, confidence, empathy, and inclusiveness. The school is also home to the Deloris A. Spear Center for Excellence in Teaching, a regional hub for educational innovation and professional learning.
