Experience Overview
Join Curator of Horticulture Josie Losh for an introduction to the art of Chinese floral arrangement, or huayi (花藝). Learn the design principles, philosophy, and symbolism behind this scholarly tradition, using the noble chrysanthemum as your central element. As a beginner-focused workshop, container style and arranging will follow a”set” arrangement specified by your instructor. Eastern floral arrangement is much more mathematical than western floral arranging, making the core principles key to later creativity.
