XEnjoy an afternoon in the garden with the mellow, expressive, melodic, and exquisite sound of Erhu (Chinese: 二胡). Erhu is a bowed instrument with two strings. Its origin can be traced back more than a thousand years ago. Today, it is the most distinctive and quintessential instrument in traditional Chinese music.
Jerry Lin is long time resident of Portland. He obtained his Ph.D. of Biochemistry from OHSU and has been a life scientist in Biotech industry. As a Shanghai native, Jerry began to play Erhu as a teenager. He has performed in various occasions including several summer concerts at Lan Su Chinese Garden.
This demonstration is part of the Step Into Spring programming in March and April 2022.
