Lan Su Chinese Garden is located at 239 NW Everett Street, at the corner of Northwest 3rd & Everett in Portland's historic Old Town Chinatown neighborhood. The garden is centrally located and easily accessible from all parts of the city by car, public transit and by foot for those living, working, or visiting the central city.
Lan Su can be reached by car from I-405 by taking the Everett Street exit and turning east. Travel approximately 10 blocks and look for the sign on the left side at the corner of Northwest 3rd & Everett.
On-street metered parking (90 minutes, 2 hour and 5 hour) is available around the garden at $2 per hour Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m and Sundays from 1:00-7:00 p.m. On Sunday before 1:00 p.m. and on designated holidays, on-street parking is free. Please note: If you park at a meter, you must move your car to another block once your maximum time has expired or you will be subject to ticketing. A variety of private and city parking lots are also located within a few minutes walk of the garden. One of the nearest is the 220 Building located at 220 NW 2nd Ave, the corner of Everett St. and 2nd Ave. Naito & Davis Parking is also 4 minutes walking distance from the Lan Su front gate.
If you are parking in the neighborhood, we recommend not to leave unnecessary valuables in your vehicle. The simplest way to protect your valuables is to keep them with you or keep them in the trunk.
Lan Su is easily accessible by buses and by MAX, Portland's light rail train service. The garden is located at the Old Town Chinatown stop on the Blue and Red MAX lines and accessible by buses 1, 4, 5, 8, 10, 16, 33, 40, and 77. To reach the garden from locations throughout the city, visit TriMet's Trip Planner, which can provide door-to-door directions using public transit.
The garden is also located centrally and within easy walking distance of many landmarks and hotels in Portland. The garden is 1/2 mile northeast of Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square, 1/4 mile southeast of Amtrak's Union Station, and near many major hotels. If you are visiting Portland, please ask your concierge or front desk for walking directions.
Portland is a bike-friendly city. Bike racks are located outside of the garden on NW Everett St. and on NW 3rd Ave. Bikes are also available for rent by the hour or day through BIKETOWN, Portland’s bike share system. The closest BIKETOWN station is located outside the garden’s east wall on NW 2nd Ave. at NW Everett St.
In response to the statewide mask mandate lift in Oregon, masks are optional for Lan Su visitors, staff, and volunteers, starting Saturday March 12th, 2022.
