Lan Su’s penjing lead and head gardner Zach Stanley will share what he has learned about the art of penjing and tell the story of some of Lan Su’s newest acquisitions.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Zach Stanley has worked at Lan Su since Spring of 2021. In his role of Head Gardener, he works to maintain and develop the beauty of the garden. He brings his passion for Chinese culture to help keep the garden true to its intent. Zach also takes the lead with the garden’s penjing collection.
This year marks Zach’s 20th year working in Ornamental Horticulture, including at the Pacific Bonsai Museum, Portland Japanese Garden, and now at the Lan Su Chinese Garden. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from the University of Tennessee and Master's in Biology, with concentration in plants, from the University of Kentucky. He began working in horticulture at 18 years old, at his family’s greenhouse and nursery business. As a third-generation horticulturist, he is passionate about the power of gardens.
Lan Su Chinese Garden is a proud participant in Museums for All program and now offers reduced rate admission at $3 per person to all EBT cardholders.
