XJoin us and learn about the pekingese, also known as Lion Dogs. The Pekingese is an ancient breed of toy dog, originating in China. They are called Lion Dogs due to their resemblance to Chinese guardian lions. The Pekingese was favored by royalty of the Chinese Imperial court as both a lap dog and companion dog, and its name refers to the city of Peking (Beijing) where the Forbidden City is located.
Free with membership or admission. Chinese New Year is the most popular time to visit the garden. Plan for the best visit by purchasing your tickets ahead of time and arriving early for your favorite activities.
