Lan Su Chinese Garden is pleased to offer an Artist Addendum for professional and amateur artists that can be added to any membership level. This yearly membership addendum provides benefits created specifically for artists, including additional access to Lan Su, the ability to sell images of the garden, and invitations to events tailored for artists.

A Lan Su Chinese Garden Artist Addendum and Lan Su Membership are non-refundable and non-transferable. Specific Artist Addendum benefits are for members with an Artist Addendum only.
Portrait photo shoots are not included in this membership. Portrait photo shoots are only allowed before or after garden regular hours. For a fee, you will receive up to two hours of private time in the garden. Lan Su Chinese Garden maintains the right to adjust these policies, in specific instances, in the best interests of the garden and the general public.
The Artist Member agrees to release form liability and to indemnify and hold harmless Lan Su Chinese Garden, it’s employees, agents and other representative from any claim for personal injury and loss of/or damage to property, including negligence, arising in connection with or resulting from the use of garden facilities.
Lan Su Chinese Garden requires the location credit “Lan Su Chinese Garden, Portland, Oregon” in all uses of the garden image in print, on the web, in broadcast, and in any other public medium.
Lan Su Chinese Garden allows promotional usage of photos taken in the garden by its current Artist Members. The Events and Marketing Department reserves the right to use any and all photographs taken of the Garden to promote, market, and advertise the Garden. Lan Su Chinese Garden uses the images of a small group of sanctioned photographers for their marketing materials. The garden at times also requests from Artist Members garden images for promoting, marketing, and advertising the garden. Any artist who uses images of Lan Su Chinese Garden for commercial, advertising, or promotional purposes is required to pay a $100 fee for a one-year Artist Addendum in addition to Membership. Without payment of the fee, it is strictly forbidden to sell or use images taken of the Lan Su Chinese Garden or the Lan Su Chinese Garden logo for commercial or promotional activities, which include but are not limited to publishing, marketing, educational materials, products and retail merchandise, general and web advertising, broadcast, or any situation where the photographer is paid for the use of the image.
The deadline for submissions for the 2019 calendar year has closed. Details on how to apply for the 2020 calendar year will be announced in January 2019.
Lan Su Chinese Garden invites artists working in all mediums to submit images for review for public exhibition in the garden. Exhibitions run generally one-to-two months in one or more of the enclosed pavilions within the garden. Of particular interest are works from Portland-area artists with botanical and Chinese cultural themes although all manner of subjects will be considered. Please include a brief biography stating work mediums and inspirations, any recent and relevant links to your work (website, social media, etc.), as well as details about size, format, and, if possible, retail gallery price ranges of the bulk of your work. If selected, agreements will be entered into for exhibition sales on a commission basis.
