Discover the rich traditions of Cantonese (Southern) Lion Dance through this interactive drop-in workshop. Explore the cultural significance of the lion, learn about its costumes, instruments, and customs—including Cai Qing (Plucking the Greens) and the Dotting of the Eyes ceremony—and experience the art of lion dance through demonstrations, storytelling, and hands-on participation.
Enjoy traditional lion dance performances by Portland Lee’s Association, filled with leaping lions, drum beats, and cymbals. Don’t miss the whimsical enjoyment these playful lions bring to guests of all ages as they make their way through the garden! Stay after for a photo op with the performers.
